Marine Mat said it obtained patent-pending status for removable EVA foam traction mats.

“This invention is a huge step forward in making EVA foam traction mats more appealing to boat owners and competitive with traditional flooring products, like carpet,” Marine Mat owner Greg Pickren said in a statement.

“Historically EVA foam has been glued down in marine applications,” Marine Mat general manager John Salvatore said. ”Our removable traction mats snap in like carpet, which makes it very easy for boatbuilders to offer it as an upgrade.”

Marine Mat has named the product Snap It Series and will begin marketing it next year. Custom colors, logos, and patterns will be available to boatbuilders.

The product line will be produced at the company’s new factory in Oldsmar, Fla.

Marine Mat is a privately held Florida company that shares common ownership with the companies and brands of SBT, SEI Marine Products, API Marine, Watercraft Superstore Inc. and BlackTip Jetsports.
